Awards And Accolades

Quilts for Survivors and its founder, Vanessa Genier, have been honored with several prestigious awards and accolades, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the quilting community and the support of trauma survivors. In 2023, Quilts for Survivors received the Nova Award in the Non-profit category, as well as the Inclusive Growth Award from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, celebrating their commitment to social impact and inclusivity. Vanessa herself has been recognized for her exceptional work, receiving the Meritorious Service Decoration (Civil Division) from the Governor General of Canada. She has also been named one of the 25 Most Influential Women of 2024 and is the 2024 recipient of the Jim Brady Memorial Medal of Excellence. These honors reflect Vanessa’s unwavering dedication to empowering individuals through the transformative power of quilts and her profound impact on communities across Canada.
